APTUA has partnered with USTA Georgia to bolster the ranks of USTA officials in and around Atlanta.
Based on the recommendation of the Marketing Committee, the two organizations decided to concentrate recruiting efforts through a four-prong, communications plan. In the July meeting, the board decided on this strategy:
- Place an item in the monthly USTA Georgia email blast to members (right in photo above).
- Place an ad in the September/October issue of Net News, ALTA’s publication (left).
- Write a story for the September/October issue of Net News (center).
- Write another story for the January/February issue of Net News (below).
All of those communications directed interested persons to contact USTA Georgia’s Officials Chair Holly Stroud, a former APTUA vice president. All APTUA applicants must be USTA certified officials.
Over the past two years, the APTUA Marketing Committee has worked to obtain new tournaments. In recent months, APTUA staffing has faced the rare situation of not having enough available officials for assignments. Over the same period, more than 20 APTUA officials have fallen out of the association, mainly due to retirement.
Thanks go to the Marketing Committee members Ron Cioffi (chair), USTA Georgia Executive Director Darren Potkey and Roger Watson, along with Stroud. A special shout-out goes to APTUA Treasurer Candy Crenshaw, who was photographed for the ad.
